In a bold claim, vice president of the USA Awami League and a close aide of Sheikh Hasina stated that the ousted Hasina will soon return to Bangladesh as Prime Minister.
Rabbi Alam, also expressed gratitude to India for offering a safe haven for the ousted leader.
“Bangladesh is under attack, and it needs to be addressed by the international community. A political uprising is fine, but that is not what has been going on in Bangladesh. This is a terrorist uprising... Many of our leaders are sheltered here in India, and we are very thankful to the Indian government for providing the alignment. I also thank PM Narendra Modi for providing a safe travel passage for our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We are thankful to the people of India,” he said.
Additionally he said “We want to ask the Bangladesh Advisor to step down and go back to where he came from”.

Claiming that the youth of Bangladesh made a mistake and were misled. He further referred to the current political crisis in Bangladesh as a “terrorist uprising” and appealed to the international community to intervene.

On August 5th 2024, a student-led movement removed Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina. This followed weeks of protests and violent clashes which consumed over 600 lives.
Hasina was forced to flee to India, and an interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus was established. He had recently stated that India had made “no official response” in response to the extradition requests. The ousted PM is also awaiting trials into crimes against humanity, he had said.
In September 2024, Indian EAM, S Jaishankar clearly stated “What happens is their internal matter. Bangladesh is our neighbour and the relationship, on our part, is something we want to keep stable. We have good trade... our people-to-people ties are good... I want to keep the relationship that way.” He also stated that the Indian government was prepared to give Ms Hasina time to decide on her next steps, which could include political retirement.
This week, a court in Dhaka ordered the seizure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi residence, ‘Sudasadhan,’ and some other properties owned by her family members, who are in exile in India.
