India bashes on, eliminating JeM commander in Jammu

Two more unidentified militants were neutralised by Indian security forces on Saturday (12 April 2025), in Jammu, where multiple anti-militancy and anti-infiltration operations are on.

According to reports one Pakistani terrorist  was eliminated on Friday (11 April 2025) while 2 more were additionally eliminated by security forces in the Naidgam forests of Chatroo. Among the terminated terrorists was Saifullah, a commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad, along with the other two identified as Farman and Basha.

The Jaish-e-Mohammad group, barged into a civilian’s home in Basantgarh, Udhampur district, late Wednesday. The terrorists consumed food, took a mobile phone, clothing, shoes, a bag, and an umbrella prior to departing.

Earlier, on 3 April 2025, two terrorists had entered a residence in Udhampur’s Chore Panjwa-Khabbal area in Majalta block, held a family hostage, and forcibly took a mobile phone and food before leaving around 10 PM.

The security forces were on alert in this area and observed terrorists. The terrorists were first detected in a forest in Saniyal village of the Hiranagar sector on 23 March 2025.

In an encounter, two terrorists were terminated while four policemen were martyred on 27 March 2025 in the Sufain forest near Jakhole village, Kathua district.

In the recent encounter of Saifullah and his stooges (12 April 2025), each terrorists had a bounty of ₹5 lakh on their heads. The operation commenced in the targeted area on 9 April 2025.

Units from the 2, 5, and 9 Para SF of the Army, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police collaborated in the operation.

The counter-terrorism operations took place in the mountainous terrain with thick forest cover. “The Army deployed helicopters to locate the fleeing terrorists,” stated a police officer.

A large amount of arms, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the site.

Other CT operations have also been launched simultaneously in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts to track down terrorists who have infiltrated via the international border in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district recently.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army breached the ceasefire along the Line of Control in the Keri Battal sector of Akhnoor in an effort to smuggle armed terrorists across the border. Alert troops thwarted the attempt.

During the heavy exchange of fire, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was severely injured. He was airlifted to a garrison hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

“At around 2115 hours (9:15 PM), the Pakistani Army fired small arms towards an Indian forward post in the Keri-Battal sector under Police Station Khour, Akhnoor, Jammu & Kashmir. In response, the Indian Army retaliated by firing small arms towards the source of aggression,” officials reported.

During the exchange, JCO Kuldeep Singh was martyred after receiving a bullet wound and succumbing to his injuries.

The Army is expected to release a statement soon.
