Sanitation drive in J&K : operation Nagni and operation Akhal Dewsar

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have recently conducted multiple counter-terrorism operations, including “Operation Nagni TOP” and “Operation Akhal Dewsar.” In the Kalaroos area of Kupwara district, a three-day joint operation by the Indian Armed Forces, J&K Police, and BSF resulted in the discovery of a terror hideout and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and explosives, including grenades, a radio set, and an IED manual. Concurrently, a separate joint operation in Akhal Devsar, South Kashmir, led to the neutralization of one terrorist during an ongoing gunfight, with security forces maintaining a tight cordon in the area.

"Operation Nagni TOP" is a counter-terrorism operation conducted  by the Indian Armed forces in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) in the Kalaroos area of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir. In the three day operation, security forces located a terror hideout and recovered a large  cache of arms and explosives such a pistol, magazines, twelve grenades (Chinese-made), ammunition, a Kenwood Motorola radio set, Urdu IED manual, fire sticks and an aluminium container.

Meanwhile operations are continuing in the South Kashmir region in Akhal Devsar in district of Kulgam. This is the fourth consecutive day of the operation in South Kashmir.

According to the Chinar Corps, the terrorist was killed during a gunfight on Saturday that continued overnight in the Akhal area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The joint operation was conducted  by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG).

In a post on X, Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said, “OP AKHAL, Kulgam. Intermittent and intense firefight continued through the night. Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the noose while maintaining contact.”

“One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces so far. Operation continues,” the post added.
