On 17 November 2025 The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish. He is a key associate of suspected suicide bomber Dr. Umar Un Nabi in connection with the November 10 car-bomb blast near the Red Fort. According to the NIA, Wani has been remanded as a co‑conspirator for 10 days.
Who Is Jasir Bilal “Danish” Wani?
Wani is a resident of Qazigund, in the Anantnag district of Jammu & Kashmir.
The NIA has regarded him as an “active co‑conspirator” who “worked closely” with Dr. Nabi, aiding and abetting in the planning and execution of the terror attack.
According to the NIA, Wani provided technical support by modifying drones and attempting to build rockets, allegedly to assist in the broader terror plot.
He met Umar Un Nabi in Kashmir. Several reports suggest that Nabi may have groomed him for a “fidayeen (suicide) attack.”
Arrest and Custody
The NIA arrested Wani in Srinagar, following a large-scale operation in the Valley.
In court, the agency’s remand plea focussed on Wani’s technical role, stating that his interrogation was essential to uncover the full extent of the terror network.
This is part of a multi-pronged strategy by the NIA with several teams reportedly combing through several states to identify all individuals linked to the November 10 attack.
Context: The Red Fort Car Blast
On 10 November 2025, a Hyundai i20 exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, resulting in a major terror investigation.
Dr. Umar Un Nabi, identified as the driver, is believed to have carried out the attack as a “suicide bomber.”
The blast has been treated as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VB-IED) attack, escalating national alarm.

Other Key Developments
A day prior to Wani’s arrest, the NIA arrested Amir Rashid Ali, another suspected co-conspirator. A Delhi court sent him to 10-day NIA custody.
According to the NIA, Ali is accused of facilitating the purchase of the car used in the blast, arranging a safe house for Nabi, and providing logistical support.
The NIA has said it has interviewed dozens of witnesses, including injured survivors, as part of its probe.
There have been reports of Wani’s father, Bilal Ahmed Wani, attempting self-immolation amidst the investigation. He later died in hospital.
The NIA alleges that Jasir’s radicalisation started after meeting Dr. Nabi, suggesting a longer-term ideological grooming.
Significance and Implications
The arrest of Jasir Bilal Wani marks a major breakthrough in the NIA’s investigation, pointing to a broader “white-collar terror module” potentially operating across many states.
His role in drone modification and attempted rocket-building suggests a sophisticated support network, raising serious questions about how the plot was financed, planned, and technologized.
The NIA’s move to detain him for 10 days suggests that investigators believe he holds critical information.
