UK MP Bob Blackman has expressed strong solidarity with India, advocating for the end of Pakistan’s “illegal occupation” of Jammu and Kashmir and calling for the region’s unification with India. Blackman condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed 26 innocent lives, and urged the international community to stand with India against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, which he believes is funded by international aid diverted for illicit activities. He also highlighted the fragile truce between India and Pakistan and emphasized India’s sovereign right to defend its people and territory

“The illegal occupation of part of India in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan should end. Those troops should leave, and the whole of Jammu and Kashmir should be united as one principal state, as was intended back in 1947,” stated UK MP Bob Blackman taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) on 25 July 2025.
Blackman stated, “I remain appalled by the terrorist attack in Pahalgam a few months ago, which took 26 innocent lives. I’m relieved that peace has held, but the truce remains fragile. As India seeks deeper security ties with the West, I urged the Govt to stand with India against terrorism.” Robert “Bob” John Blackman CBE MP is a British Conservative politician who has represented Harrow East as a Member of Parliament since 2010. He has held the position of the Chairman of the 1922 Committee and Chair of the Backbench Business Committee (2024), having also been the Joint Executive Secretary of the 1922 Committee (2012 – 2024). He has served as a Member of the London Assembly for Brent and Harrow from (2004 – 2008). UK MP’s stance on Pahalgam terror attack Recalling India’s response to the attack, Blackman said “Similarly, we had the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam and India’s subsequent counter-terrorism action Operation Sindoor. I remain deeply appalled and saddened by the barbaric attack on the innocent tourists, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including women and children, Hindus, Christians and a Nepali national. My thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones, and I continue to stand in solidarity with them and the people of India.” While acknowledging the current suspension in hostilities between India and Pakistan, he further admonished the international community stating, “truce is still very fragile and could return to war once again.”

Advocating in support of the Kashmiri Pandits, the pointed Pakistan’s role in terror financing, he said, “As someone who has stood with the Kashmir Pandits and their right to return to Kashmir Valley and India’s sovereign right to defend its people and territory, it is outrageous that this terrorism, sponsored by Pakistan, continues in Jammu and Kashmir.” Additionally, he urged the international community to support India’s efforts in countering terrorism. “So, it is right that we call on this and make sure we stand in solidarity with India.” Referring to Pakistan as a failed state, Blackman made references to Pakistani military dictatorship and further reiterating “it’s quite clear that terrorism is encouraged from Pakistan into sovereign India,” Blackman said. He also addressed the issues in regards to the international aid sent to Pakistan, which he stated was being syphoned by its government to fund terror activities against India by utilizing weapons bought from China rather than being distributed for health and welfare of the state. Empathizing with India over the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, several UK MPs, including House of Lords MP Lord Karan Bilimoria and former MP Shailesh Vara, also spoke in support for India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and discussed strengthening India-UK cooperation in trade, security, and education.
